How much would it cost to paint a 30′ Trojan cabin cruiser?

This is definitely a request for a ball park figure. Thinking about buying a 1972 30′ Trojan Sea Raider express. I am having serious issues with the local boat yards and painters returning my call and I need to make a decision. The survey has been done and all is well in that realm, we just need to figure the cost for someone to haul out and paint ALL of the exterior from top to bottom. The current bottom job would have to be scraped and removed as there is probably five coats on there now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I do not have the option to do it myself. It is a fiberglass boat with a teak top and deck. The teak will not be painted as that is the part we will do ourselves.

There are very few yacht yards, that will take on this project. In fact I’d say none. The cost of this job would far exceed the value of the boat. I’d suggest, having the hull wet sanded and polished, and the bottom repainted. That would come in at say $5000 or a little less. Add $5000 for stripping the “bright work” and refinishing…..you get the idea. Haul-out and blocking (outdoors) is $8 a foot. each way.

The number of workers that are experienced in this type work are rapidly diminishing, and they mostly do small jobs.
