anyone recognise this coin/token?
I have a coin/token with what appears to be “B.V & C0″ on the top and “black boy lamp cabin” on the bottom. It is punched as if it hangs on a nail,and is hand stamped with the number “230″.The reverse appears blank but I havent cleaned it so it could just be dirty.Anyone recognise it please?
I don’t know anything about this but … if it wasn’t for keeping track of people, it may have been for keeping track of *lamps* and have hung from one, noting it’s “home” (black boy [pit] lamp cabin) and its inventory-control number.
There is a historic mine in the Durham County, the Black Boy Pit.

“LAMP-CABIN. — A place above ground, or underground near the pit bottom, where the safety-lamps are repaired, cleaned, examined, lighted, and locked, before being handed to the workmen in cases where naked lights are not allowed to be taken from the bottom of the shaft.
