Nainital Tour: A gem In India Tourism

The name of the city was coined after the Naini Devi temple, which is situated at the upper end of the Naini Lake. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Naina Devi, the manifestation of Goddess Durga and a Shakti form. As ‘Naini’ means ‘eyes’, some people also believe that it is the place where the eye of Sati (consort of Shiva) fell, because of which the place was named ‘Nainital’. The town is a major tourist hub and is dotted with cottages, villas and bungalows. The weather remains cool throughout the year and the period of December to February witnesses heavy snowfall.

Nainital has various historical and adventurous places. A few of them are:
China Peak (the highest peak of Nainital with 2611 m height)
Snow View (2270 m high, offers scenic view of Nainital and 350 km long Himalayan range)
Tiffin Top (another peak at 2290 m height, also known as ‘Dorothy seat’)
Lands End (at 2114 m, the most adventurous tourist place of Nainital, provides magnificent views of the plains and Kupra Tal)
Hanuman Garh (the temple of Lord Hanuman)
Saria Tal (a small lake and a waterfall for fun)
Observatory (a study center for astronomical studies)
Zoo (houses some rare Himalayan animal species)
The shops in market are loaded with good quality woolen clothes, herbal items, naturally made wooden structures, beautiful and artistic candles and various other exciting items.
