can your skin heal up over an ear piercing if it falls out and the back is still there?
I got my ears pierced a little over a month ago. A few days ago I noticed my right ear had started getting itchy. I had been wearing the same earrings for like a week. They weren’t white gold or good quality so I know of course I got the infection because of the bad quality metal. Anyway, I took them out once I noticed the infection was serious and that morning I couldn’t find the back of the earring. I thought it just fell out in my sleep.
I noticed today while trying to pop what I thought was the infection some sort of bubble with puss, that it’s about the same size as the back of the earring. And that would explain why it hurt so hard to take it out. Is it possible that the skin scabbed and somehow healed over the back of the earring, making it go under my skin? I’m really worried now and it seems like a quick recovery to heal over within one night of a scab. It’s only been about 3 days since I took the earring out and that happened.

That could be a possible explanation. The same thing happened to me with my first ear piercing when I was kid, and my mom got it out (I let the hole close up and got them pierced years later). The same thing also happened to my friend’s nose piercing. You should go see a doctor (try going to urgent care instead of the ER if you can), and they can tell you. It could just be an infection, and the back isn’t in your ear. But if skin has grown over it, then a doctor needs to take it out ASAP.
