Is investing in coins profitable?
I’m an amateur collector for 30 years. I’ve recently started a collection of the new “Presidential” dollars. When I can afford it ..I’ll buy a roll. Most of the time…I can only buy singles. Here in Texas the only “mint” marks we get are the “D” s. Anyone in another part of the country that only get’s the “P” s..be interestered in trading? Dollar for dollar with pre-paid postage. Honesty and trust is obiviously a must here.
Investing in coins is different than collecting coins. You need to be very good at grading coins since the difference between an MS64 and an MS65 can sometimes be thousands of dollars. You need to have a good knowledge of the industry as well as the hobby. Investing in coins can be profitable over time but you really need to know what you are doing.
Sorry, I can’t help you out with the mint mark issue. I live on the wrong side of the Mississippi. Although, you could buy both mint marks from the US mint web site. It would be at a premium to face value but it would resolve the problem.
