Has sending wedding thank you notes become obsolete?
I went to a wedding this summer (mid july) and have not gotten a thank you note for coming or for the gift. My parents went to a couple weddings also this summer and haven’t gotten any thanks for coming or for their gift.
Has this practice become obsolete in today’s overly busy, crazed world?
Just curious. Don’t worry I’m not bitter about it.
i know they got the gift (my friends) cuz they asked me something about it at a later date.
and i know one of the weddings my parents went to got the gift cuz the groom’s sister said they love it and it is displayed in their home.
It is mind boggling to me to see that in this day and age when information is literally at our fingertips, good manners are disappearing. Many wedding websites offer much advice about everything from decorating to entertaining to writing the thank you notes … but it seems many brides today just skip the “thank you”’s. My own niece has yet to send thank you cards for the gifts she received at the Bridal Shower we held for her a few months ago … and doubt anyone will receive thank you cards for the gifts the happy couple received at the wedding. I, like you, am not bitter … but am indeed curious.
Perhaps it is an “old fashioned” tradition that many parents fail to teach their children anymore — the tradition of expressing appreciation.
